Online Counselling & Integration

For people who understand their patterns but still find themselves caught in them.

Online sessions worldwide. Run by Michael Kaplan (Swami Ramarishi), ASCHP-registered Wellness Counsellor (Reg. 10559).

This work tends to support people who are working with:

  • Recurring emotional patterns that persist despite genuine effort
  • Overthinking and internal pressure that makes it hard to settle
  • Relationship dynamics that keep repeating
  • Difficulty following through on what matters
  • Periods of transition, uncertainty, or loss
  • A sense of disconnection from the body or from direction

The approach draws from counselling, contemplative practice, and body-based awareness, working with these as one integrated process rather than separate tracks. Explore the full approach →

Where most people begin

A clear starting point: the five-session integrative process

A contained, structured process with a defined beginning, middle, and end. Not open-ended counselling, but a first piece of work designed to bring clarity and create real movement.

01

Mapping

Understanding current patterns and where things feel stuck or challenged.

02

Identifying

Seeing what is actually maintaining these patterns: not the story, but the mechanism underneath.

03

Intervening

Introducing targeted practices: breathwork, attention training, behavioural adjustments chosen for the specific situation.

04

Applying

Testing changes in real time. Seeing what holds, what needs adjustment, and what the real work is.

05

Consolidating

Reviewing what has shifted. Clarifying next steps and establishing a sustainable foundation.

Many continue beyond five sessions. Some find five is enough. The decision stays open.

Counselling, practice, and integration as one coherent process

Most approaches work with one dimension of experience in isolation. This one doesn't.

Counselling and dialogue

A direct, relational process of understanding how a person actually functions. Not in theory, but in the specific patterns of their life. This is where understanding moves from general to specific.

How counselling works

Breathwork and regulation

Working directly with the breath to influence physiological state. Not relaxation techniques, but the ability to shift nervous system response when it matters, and to understand the mechanism well enough to apply it independently.

Breathwork explained

Attention and body-based awareness

Developing the capacity to sustain clear, steady attention. Reconnecting with the information the body provides. Thought alone is rarely the problem. How perception operates under pressure is.

Behavioural integration into real life

Insight that does not reach behaviour has not yet become real. The measure of this work is not how someone feels during a session, but how they function at home, at work, and in the moments that challenge them most.

Common questions

Is this therapy?

No. Sangham is supportive wellness counselling, registered with the ASCHP. It is not psychology, psychotherapy, psychiatry, or clinical mental health treatment. People who have previously worked with therapists often find this approach complements or extends what therapy began.

Does online counselling actually work?

For this kind of work, the online format holds well. What matters most is the quality of attention from both sides, and that is not diminished by distance. Many people find they arrive more settled working from their own environment. Clients currently work from South Africa, India, the United Kingdom, and elsewhere.

What happens in the first consultation?

A full session, not a brief screening call. There is space to explore what is present, understand the approach in practice, ask questions, and get a genuine sense of whether working together makes sense. No obligation to continue beyond this.

Do I need meditation or yoga experience?

No. The work integrates contemplative practice where relevant and appropriate. No background or prior experience is required. What matters is a genuine willingness to engage honestly with the process.

Can I work with you from outside South Africa?

Yes. All sessions are conducted online via video call. Clients currently work from South Africa, India, the United Kingdom, Europe, and beyond. Scheduling is arranged to suit your timezone.

How quickly can I start?

Most enquiries receive a response within one to two business days, with a simple way to arrange an initial consultation time.

Start with a 15-minute conversation.

Free. No obligation. Just a direct exchange to see whether this is the right fit.
